Its been quite a while since I updated both of my blogs and the reason is ‘Semester exams’. Some people still find time to update theirs and some do not. Inspite of my hectic schedule, I have found time to update my blog and that requires some praise. So, I praise myself <Pats myself>

Now then, most probably the next post will come around say, November 19th. Yep, the day next to the World War 3, the Digital signal processing exam. Boy, it is going to be one tough fight. But like the saying goes, ‘When the going gets tough, the tough gets going’, and so I urge everyone to be tough and face the exam with grit and determination (You don’t have any alternative, but I’m just saying for the sake of saying )

Republican candidate John McCain gave a generous speech appreciating Obama and said he’d love to serve his nation even though he isn’t the president and requested all republican party supporters to do the same..

23 Oct 08 No Rain. No School.

It has always been like this. Metrological department usually get it all wrong everytime and they inform the state government to declare holiday for all schools. As a part of the unspoken agreement with the rain god and our metrological dept, there won’t be any rain.

Now, why would I bother about it and blog it?. I have a reason too. Kids. Kids. Kids. Man o Man, you have to have a lot of patience to endure the noise they make. Nearly 16 shorties came and played cricket, making quite a racket. I had no other choice than to endure it. When it was 6 pm and rain started, they adjourned. Man, was I at peace atlast!!

21 Oct 08 India Dominates Australia in Test match #2

Right from the word go, it clicked for the indians. Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and made the right decision of choosing to bat first. The seniors came out good in the first innings with the skipper himself making 92 in no time. Indians ended up scoring 469 and with some belligerent bowling from Amit Mishra, Indians were on song and australia were bundled out for 268!. Imagine such a situtation where even the mighty aussies couldn’t avoid a follow on!

However, Mahi did the clever thing. Instead of enforcing the follow on, Indians padded up and continued on with Innings number 2. Delhi guys Gambhir and Sehwag made aussies bowling look insultingly simple and the scoreboard kept ticking. Indians ended their innings before tea, declaring at 314/3.

Australians started off their 2nd innings well, with matt hayden looking strong. However, three balle balle’s from Bhajji did the trick and aussies reeled at 52-3. Ponting was no good playing Ishant sharma and followed his men suit. It was 52-4 and Shane watson, player of the IPL tournament was taken out again by Ishant sharma. Haddin and Clarke put up a good solid stand and lifted the score and aussie hopes as the visitors reached 142-5.

Day 5: It all ended within the first session. And how?!. Zaheer came, took 3 wickets in 4 deliveries. Australia’s hopes of saving the match were doomed now as their score looked a pathetic 144-8. Mitchell johnson and Clarke shared a 50 run partnership. But however, debutant Amit mishra set the tail of the tailenders on fire and removed Johnson and Clarke. Australia bundled out for 195. India win by 320 runs! Highest ever victory margin!!

Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has come with a plan that sounds simply outrageous. Here is the billing plan

A user can use upto 600 units, on crossing it, he/she will charged 1.5 times the amount of units he/she consumes. Say for e.g if your power consumption is 700 units, your electricity bill will be charged for 700*1.5 = 1050 units. The worst part is, if you consume 601 units, you will be charged for 601+300.5 = 901.5 units!!

The worst part is 4 hours powercut in Suburbs.. Damn!

17 Oct 08 Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar - God of Cricket

“If cricket is my religion, then Tendulkar is my god”.. These are the non famous words uttered by totally non famous person living in a small suburb area, not visible on Google maps, with the name “Hariharan”. Yea thats me!

Today, Sachin scored the elusive 14 runs needed to overthrow the record made by my yet another favorite Brian Lara. When he reached 11954, there was no stopping him. He went on to make 88 runs from 111 balls, today before falling to Peter Siddle (Congratulations mate, you’ve nailed the big fish). I always thought 111 was an unlucky number, like the umpire David Shepherd does. Yes, it was truly unlucky as Sachin happened to get out in the closing moments of the day.

Albeit scoring a bit slow, It was a welcome change to see thalaivar tendiya batting positively. Thalaivar played like the god he is, smashing 10 sweet fours in a juicy pitch. India sauntered to a good first day score of 311/5. Hope they keep the pace up tomorrow as well and reach a possible 600.

BSE Sensex falls nearly 900 points from yesterday’s market close to 9911. This is the first time in nearly 2 and half years, it has fallen below the 10,000 mark. This is a bad time for the market, which is called as Bear market during the falling times. People getting panicky and selling the shares for unheard of low prices, leading to a loss of about 20+ lakhs per capita. Today is probably what you can call ‘Black friday’.

For your information, Rupee has touched 48.85 per dollar mark. Like the tag line of Harry potter and the Order of phoenix, “Tough times lie ahead”
